Overlooking the Grandlieu lake, southwest of Nantes, contributes to a moderate climate and wine with some depth. Serge Batard's estate is small with high and consistant quality using 25-30 year old vines.
Petit Bourgeois (Sauvignon Blanc) 2007 Henri Bourgeois, Loire, France £19.50
Aclaimed producer from the Loire Valley. This specific vineyard, just outside the Sancerre boundary, is as good as many from the zone. Pure and well defined character it combines typical mineral notes, crunchy fruit with real elegance.
Friulano Colli Orientali Fruili Visintini 2007 Visintini, Friuli, Italy £ 5.25/ £21.00
Related to Sauvignon Blanc this variety is indigenous to Northeast Italy. It displays similarities too. The wine has a clean soft texture with fresh herbs and good fruit. A young and exciting producer, all his wines have character and typicity.
Gruner Veltliner 'Wachberg' 2007 Weingut Salomon, Undhof, Austria £22.50
A family run estate dating back to 1792 the wines are authentic and pure. A small estate with grapes coming from steep natural terraces along the Daube River adds to the quality of their product. Clean and fresh a soft edge with hints of white pepper and white peach.
Vouvray Sec (Chenin Blanc) 2006 Champalou, Loire, France £ 6.00/ £23.50
Didier Champalou makes beautiful Vouvray. His wines have a rounded, tender, almost buttery texture with hints of apples, ripe quince and honey. The grapes here are harvested early to preserve its vivid character.
Riesling 2007 Domaine Albert Mann, Alsace, France £28.00
A small and impressive estate produces wine with concentration but also bright elegance. This mineral and fruit driven style has a zippy freshness to the palate with some sweet fruit and a hint of richness.
Vermentino Solosole 2007, Poggio Al Tesoro, Antonini, Toscana, Italy £30.00
Deep straw yellow in colour, this wine has a fine and clean perfume, with a good balance of fresh fruit and crisp acidity on the palate.
'O Rosal' Albarino 2007 Bodegas Terras Gauda, Riax Baixas, Spain £32.00
A Truly fantastic estate, their wine amongst the best on the market. An area in North West Spain it borders Portugal and is influenced by the Atlantic. The wine is marked by exceptionally bright and clean aromas and flavours of white flowers, peachy fruit and green plums.
Soave Classico 'Calvarino' (Garganega) 2006 Pieropan, Veneto, Italy £8.25/ £33.00
One of the best regarded producers in the Soave zone Pieropan consistantly delivers high quality sophisticated wines. This pure varietal, single vineyard example demonstrates the potential of this region. Unoaked, minerally with a little weight and very clean.
Chablis 1er Cru 'Fourchaume' Chantemerle 2006 Domain Adhemar Boudin, Bourgogne, France Full £34.00 Half 17.00
Top rated wine from a traditional estate. The wine is generous and pure. This single vineyard example has a touch more weight than some Chablis as well as retaining hallmark minerality and freshness.
Gewurztraminer 'Sainte Hippolyte' 2004 Domaine Marcel Deiss, Alsace, France £41.00
A cult following in the wine world, these wines have a reputation for purity and focus as well as being quite wild and complex. This example has richness but with great acidity to balance. Notes of lychee and apricot, it also has a spicy edge.
Rosé Wine
Le Petit Jaboulet (Grenache) 2007 Jaboulet, Rhone, France £4.00/ £16.00
A famous mark in the Rhone Valley, Jaboulet produces wine across the zone. This rose is bright and floral with well judged fruit and minerals and a juicy, dry finish.
Donnadelle (Negroamaro) 2007 Alberto Longo, Puglia, Italy £25.00
From this young producer comes a vivid style made from the local variety, Negroamaro. It shows floral and fruity style with mouthwatering acidity. Very fresh and clean.
Bandol (Mouvedre,Grenache,Cinsault,Carignan) 2007 Domaine la Suffrene, Provence £7.00/ £28.00
A traditional blend for Bandol from an exciting and young winemaker. A sophisticated and elegant stlye of rose, this wine has extra weight and texture. Still bright and elegant this wine is bone dry and minerally with a touch of spice.

Garnacha Cepas Viejas 2007 Vega del Castillo, Navarra, Spain £4.00/ £16.00
Navarra has a long tradition of wine making and this estate has been part of it for generations. This wine, made with the traditional Garnacha variety, is clean and soft with notes of violets, berry fruits and fresh tabacco. Simple and rewarding.
Bourgueuil 'Cuvee Binette' (Cabernet Franc) 2007 Domaine de la Chevalerie, Loire £5.00/ £19.50
With 400 years of history this estate makes wine true to their teritory. Cabernet Franc thrives in the coolish conditions here with this elegant, fruity and savoury style with no influence of oak. The wine is lightish with good intensity.
Chianti Rufina (Sangiovese, Canaiolo) 2006 Fattoria Selvapiana, Tuscany, Italy £26.00
This Wine Estate has a long history of making wines at the top level with amazing ability to age. Lying in the hills east of Florence, from Selvapiana expect an elegant style from slightly cooler part of the Chianti zone. Spicy, elegant, bags of fruit all with perfect balance.
Fleurie 'Clos de La Roilette' (Gamay) 2006 Domaine Coudert, Beaujolais, France £26.50
A small pocket of Fleurie where Gamay takes on a little more structure than other areas due to the limestone based soils among other influences. This one has a generous palate with mature fruits and fine juicy tannins.
Assisi Rosso Sportoletti (Sangiovese/Merlot) 2006 Sportoletti, Umbria, Italy £6.75/£27.00
This twenty hectare estate is made up of a number of small vineyards high in the hills above Assisi and Spello, producing this well rounded, rich and smokey wine with good length.
Langhe Nebbiolo 2006 Aldo Vajra, Peimonte, Italy £31.00
In the heart of Barolo, Vajra's wines are fine and aromatic with purity and intensity. This elegant unoaked wine has the typical floral and slightly savoury character of Nebbiolo. He's an excellent wine maker and 2006 is a great vintage.
La Grola (Corvina) 2004/5 Allegrini, Veneto, Italy £32.00
Bright ruby colour with bitter cherries and a twist of raspberry. Good intensity with a long and elegant finish.
Chianti Rufina Riserva 'Bucerchiale' (Sangiovese) 2004 Fattoria Selvapiana, Tuscany £8.50/£34.00
A benchmark wine in Tuscany. Rich and powerful with tremendous elegance and finesse. This wine will age for 20 years and more, but it's approachable now. Displaying similar character to the regular Chianti the wine has an extra level of intencity and concentration.
Cotes du Rhone 'La Sagesse' (Grenache, Syrah) 2006 Domaine Gramenon, Rhone, France £36.00
An estate admired for the purity of their wines. Old vines making a deep rich Rhone wine, fragrant and lush. A savoury style with ripe fruit and black pepper, as well as floral notes the wine is a testament power with elegance.
Givry Premier Cru ' Clos Jus' (Pinot Noir) 2005/6 Francios Lumpp, Bourgogne, France £40.00
This wine is modern and charming with delicious fruit and a soft texture. With good concentration, Lumpp creates bright and generous style wines which are amongst the top wines in this area of Burgundy.
Saint Estephe, Cru Bourgeois (Cab Sauv/Franc, Merlot) 2001 Chateau Coutelin-Merville, Bordeaux £40.00
The wine from this estate is marked by a bigger proportion of Cabernet Franc adding fragrance and texture to the wine. This is a distinct and elegant Bordeaux.
Villacreces (Tempranillo, Merlot, Cab Sauvignon) 2004, Ribera del duero, Utiel, Spain £45.00
This wine comes from vineyards with a mixture of soils giving rich different flavours to the fruit. With this complexity it is elegant, with fine tannins, balance and has a along finish.
Sweet Wine
Monbazillac (Semillon, Muscadelle) 2005 Domaine de l'Ancienne Cure, Bergerac, France £ 3.75/ £14.50
With a long history of sweet wine production, this estate makes an authentic and pure style. Showing notes of orange peel and spice as well as dry apricots, it retains good acidity to keep it clean on the finish.
Aleatico Passito (Aleatico) 2007, A Mano, Primitivo, Puglia, Italy £6.75/ £31.00
Deep ruby red in colour with a perfume of rich dried cherries. Sweet and well rounded with an attractive clean finish.
Mauray Vintage Rouge (Grenache Noir) 2005/6 Mas Amiel, Roussillon, France £36.00
Maury is made from raisined Grenache Noir grapes grown on the baking slopes of the Roussillon. Although a fortified wine, it is very much on the fruit with summer pudding flavours of berries, notes of mocha and coffee, dried herbs, prune and caramel.

Our Coffees
Our coffees are sourced from The Americas, Africa and Asia and are roasted daily in small batches in London by Union Coffees Roastmaster. There, the artisan Roastmaster is responsible for guiding each roast and developing its depth of flavour- a subjective and highly skilled craft. In the restaurant we serve a Colombian Supremo made from a local cooperative, a well balanced and unusually clean coffee with a citrus zest and a sweet chocolate rounded body, perfect coffee to enjoy after a meal. For the café we serve a Costa Rican which is an ideal coffee to drink with brownies and chocolate cakes, and an Ethiopian Organic Yirgacheffe which is an ideal morning coffee that complements lighter cakes.
