Simple, delicious, produce led cooking in a beautiful, convivial setting amongst the flowers and plants at the antique tables dotted in and about the main glasshouse.
Six days a week enjoy a short lunch menu of seasonally inspired dishes created using only the best, most carefully and naturally produced ingredients supplemented with edible flowers and herbs from the Petersham House Walled Kitchen Garden. This ethos inspires our chefs who are respectful of the produce they work with, appreciate its exceptional taste quality and are proud to present the ingredients for our customers to enjoy. In turn the small farmers and artisan producers who ‘grow’ the ingredients benefit from our support – a virtuous circle best espoused by the international Slow Food movement.
Slow Food is an international grassroots non-profit organisation bestowing the virtues of the good, clean, and fair life. As a member of the
Slow Food Supporters Scheme, Petersham Nurseries is able to demonstrate its commitment to
good,
clean and
fair products.
Good describes the quality and taste of the food you are eating,
clean refers to the standard of production and consumption, without damage to the environment, animal welfare or our health, and
fair ensures that the farmer, cheese maker, fisherman (or fisherwoman), hunter or baker, is respected, remunerated appropriately and able to live with dignity.
This is an ethos that we attempt to uphold throughout our organisation and across all business functions from the sourcing of our seeds to the quality of the food leaving the kitchen.
